Title	General Photograph Collection TNT (B)-053
Description	Bill Beymer with brood of geese. Bill Beymer, 82, of Vashon Island has become a "Father Goose" of sorts. The retired realtor and builder, who is already a great-grandfather, lives on a houseboat moored in Quartermaster Harbor. He adopted Gus, who despite the masculine name is actually a female, when she started laying eggs on his boat deck. Gus had already been kicked off some of the smaller boats moored at the Quartermaster Harbor Yacht Club for her egg-laying propensities on their property when she came to visit Mr. Beymer. Even though Gus had no mate, Mr Beymer managed to get ahold of a fertile egg, replaced the sterile one and Gus became the mother of one gosling. The little one did not survive long but this did not stop Gus from trying again and again. There are now four little ones that Mr. Beymer spends considerable time in providing water and food and cleaning up after them in their homemade wire cage. Mr. Beymer hopes that the sturdy cage will prevent crows, raccoons and otters from eating his new family. (TNT 5-9-1976)
